Michigan Farmer
"Michigan Farmer is a song I wrote about a neighbor I had when I was farming near Lake Ann in the 1970's. 'Old Joe' was an 80 year-old farmer who lived his whole life on the 80 acres he was born on, just next door. He didn't have a car, didn't have a wife; he lived with a dozen cats in a rickety old house and was a dairy farmer all of his life. One of my fondest memories is seeing him driving up the road on his old red tractor, holding up traffic on his way back from the grocery store. He's been gone for years now, but the song can bring his memory back in a heartbeat."
